Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) has announced that Christine Mitchell, CKHAF President & CEO, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) – Canada South Chapter.
This prestigious honor celebrates Christine’s remarkable achievements, dedication to community impact, and leadership within the philanthropic sector, Foundation officials say.
The award will be formally presented during the AFP’s National Philanthropy Day Celebration on November 14th at the Hellenic Cultural Centre in Windsor.
This event brings together regional leaders and local philanthropists, and recognizes those making a difference across Southwestern Ontario.
“Christine’s commitment to advancing health care in Chatham-Kent and beyond has been truly inspirational, and we are so fortunate to have her working here in our community,” said Bob Hockney, CKHAF Board Chair, in a press release.
“Her work in championing our mission and building impactful relationships has set a new standard of excellence for our Foundation, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of her strong leadership.”
“Christine’s vision, leadership and dedication are plain to see, and it’s clear that she’s had a profound impact on our hospital’s ability to deliver exceptional care,” added Adam Topp, President & CEO of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), in a press release.
“This award is a strong testament to all of the Foundation’s success under Christine’s leadership, and clear evidence that there is a bright future for health care here in Chatham-Kent.”
Since joining the Foundation in 2023, Mitchell has overseen a series of successful fundraising campaigns in support of CKHA, with the Foundation committing a total of $643,894 in approved funding to the hospital in the last fiscal year.
With a strong emphasis on collaboration and partnership, her leadership has enabled the Foundation to make a real difference in the lives of local patients by investing in crucial hospital equipment, program innovation, and facility upgrades, Foundation officials added.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from the AFP, and consider it a collective accomplishment that I share with so many others,” Mitchell stated.
“The success and accomplishments of our Foundation are a reflection of the tireless work of our Board of Directors, dedicated staff team, committed volunteers, and the generosity of this entire community. Together, we are building a culture of philanthropy that will have a lasting impact here in Chatham-Kent for generations, and I am so excited for what the future holds.”
As the charitable arm of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, the Foundation links the community of Chatham-Kent with its local hospital by raising money through philanthropic initiatives.
These funds are invested in equipment renewal, program innovation, and modern facility upgrades in the pursuit of excellence in patient-centred care at CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites.
